The new Sony XG95 TVs, presented at CES 2019, will be available in Italy from March. The coming models are four: 55 “, 65”, 75 “and 85”. The panels are LCD with Full LED backlighting, local dimming and X-Tended Dynamic Range Pro. The processing of video is the X1 Ultimate processor, the most advanced version among the chips developed by Sony. The same processor will also be present on the ZG9 and AG9 TVs. The specifications are obviously the same as we already know: “Object-based” Super Resolution, “object-based” HDR remastering, 4K HDR Super Bit Mapping and signal processing by double database.
The 75 “and 85” cuts also integrate the X-Wide Angle filter, developed to improve the viewing angle. One speaks in particular of a minor alteration of colors when looking at the screen from angled positions. Motion image management is always entrusted to Motionflow with the addition of the X-Motion Clarity technology.
XG95 supports three major HDR formats: HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. Android TV version Oreo is the Smart TV platform. Among the features present we mention Google Assistant and compatibility with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The voice commands can be given through the microphone on the remote control (completely renewed) or by using a second unit placed inside the TV. The equipment is calibrated for Netflix and IMAX Enhanced certification. The audio section uses the Acoustic Multi-Audio system with Sound Positioning Tweeter, Sound-from-Picture Reality and Dolby Atmos.
The European list prices (generally do not show significant differences compared to Italian ones) are as follows:
55 “XG95: 1.999 euros
65 “XG95: 2,799 euros
75 “XG95: 4.499 euros
