Honor Magic 2 will soon be available in an unprecedented variant with a 3D rear camera, according to what emerged from some advertising posters shared on the Weibo microblogging platform.
Compared to the standard model, Honor Magic 2 3D – this version will be called – integrates a 3D scanner based on structured light technology, which is the same as in the TrueDepth Camera of iPhone X and successors. This will project 10,000 points that will be used to analyze the depth of the framed objects and thus improve the smartphone’s performance when taking pictures in portrait mode or using Augmented Reality applications.
Curious Honor’s choice not to adopt a ToF sensor for the Magic 2, since this technology offers a range of action, more precision and speed than that of structured light. In any case, the 3D camera will not be the only novelty present on Honor Magic 2 3D; among other additions we also find an important update regarding memory cuts, thanks to the inclusion of a variant with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal memory, against the maximum 6 / 256GB of the current model.
The other specifications remain unchanged, so we always find a Kirin 980 SoC of the latest generation. Honor Magic 2 3D should arrive in China on March 15 at a recommended price of 5,800 yuan, about 760 euros at the current exchange rate.
